"Working together to make Seneca work."
"I come from a proud family that has been involved with public service for as long as I can remember. I want to work for you and with you. The Village of Seneca has always been a great place to live. I want to see Seneca continue along that path to prosperity that we have always desired. I want a safe Seneca where children are protected and allowed to explore. I want a downtown district of which we can all be proud. I want to bring the various government bodies, civic groups, businesses, and citizens together, working for common goals."
Goals and Objectives
As your Commissioner of Public Health and Safety I have worked hard to ensure that our Police Department has every tool they need to protect the Village. We have purchased new squad cars, vests, radios, computers, and other items to help our officers keep the Village of Seneca the safest place around to live.
We have partnered with the schools to provide full time resource officers to protect and mentor our children. These resource officers provide an extra level of safety to our students that allows them to focus on being students.
The Village of Seneca now has a completely full time police force for the first time ever. Our officers are well trained to protect and serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
As Mayor I will continue to push for the safety and security of the Village of Seneca. I will use my experiences to help guide the next Commissioner of Public Health and Safety towards this never ending goal.
Transparency and Access
We are fortunate in the Village that we are more transparent than most governments. But "more than most" is not good enough and should never be acceptable. In the Village of Seneca's commission form of government, the Mayor is in charge of Public Affairs. One of the very first things I will do is setup live broadcasts of all Village Council meetings over the internet in addition to our current broadcasts on cable. Those meetings will then be archived for viewing at anytime after the meeting by anyone who wishes.
When I am elected, we will provide multiple ways for the public to get information and get their questions answered in a timely manner. We will provide easier access` for the public to contact the Mayor, Commissioners, and other key people in the Village government. We will provide clear information on how our commission form of government works and who the public should contact for their issue. We will be responsive and forthright.
The Village of Seneca is a community that continues to grow and prosper. But one area that needs some more focus is the downtown area. We should work with successful local business owners to determine what works and what doesn't and use that information to help new business owners prosper in our downtown area. We need to work with local organizations and develop public-private partnerships to provide a framework of support that will allow our downtown area to have the tools to thrive.
As a US Air Force Veteran, businessman, elected official of 14 years, and a s0-so athlete in high school, I have learned that the number one factor to success is teamwork. The success of our village government requires that the different departments work together to provide services and safety to the citizens of the Village. As Mayor I will guide the various department heads to work together.
The success of our village requires that the Village government, schools, townships, port authority, civic organizations, churches, and other entities work together. I will work hard to develop and keep lines of communication open and an understanding of goals of each organization and between each organization.
And finally with my transparency initiatives I will bring the public on to the team.
Review and Simplify
A problem any government has that over time their codes can become unwieldy and out of date. After serving four years as commissioner I have seen this first hand. One of my first initiatives will be a review of the Village Code from the first page to the last.
The purpose of reviewing our Village Code will be to remove what no longer applies or is redundant, simplify the complicated sections of the code, enhance or strengthen where needed, and attempt to ensure that our code is in line with county, state and federal codes.
